AI Tools for Wellness Practitioners — The $0/Month Stack

aiwellnesstoolscase-study

My wife Amy runs Lucid Living — breathwork sessions, wellness workshops, and practitioner training. When she started, her "tech stack" was Instagram DMs and a notebook.

No booking system. No automated emails. No website that could take payments. Every session was manually coordinated. Every follow-up was a text message she had to remember to send.

Sound familiar? Every wellness practitioner I've talked to has this exact problem. You got into this work because you care about people's wellbeing. Not because you love wrestling with technology.

So we built something. And the wild part is — the entire operating system costs $0/month.

The Problem With Wellness Tech

The wellness industry has a specific tech problem. The tools built for wellness businesses — Mindbody, Vagaro, WellnessLiving — all charge $50-200/month. For a solo practitioner running two classes a week, that's a huge overhead for a booking calendar and some email reminders.

Then there's the DIY route: Calendly for bookings, Mailchimp for emails, Stripe for payments, Squarespace for the website. Four tools. Four logins. Four sets of limitations on the free tier. Nothing talks to each other.

What if the booking system, the payment processing, the email confirmations, and the website were all one thing — and it cost nothing?

The $0/Month Stack

Here's exactly what Amy runs Lucid Living on:

Bookings: Supabase (Free)

Supabase gives you a real database, user authentication, and an API — all on the free tier. The booking system stores sessions, handles registrations, tracks capacity, and manages waitlists.

When someone books, they get an account. Their booking history, preferences, and payment status are all in one place. No spreadsheet. No manual tracking.

Payments: Stripe

Stripe charges per transaction (2.9% + 30c), not a monthly fee. When someone books a session, they pay through Stripe. The money hits Amy's account. Done.

No monthly platform fee. No percentage of revenue going to a booking platform. Just the standard card processing rate that every business pays anyway.

Emails: Resend (Free)

Booking confirmations, reminders, follow-ups, receipts — all sent through Resend. The free tier gives you 3,000 emails per month. For a wellness practice, that's more than enough.

The emails are triggered automatically. Book a session → confirmation email. 24 hours before → reminder. After the session → follow-up with resources. No manual sending. No remembering to follow up.

Website: Vercel + Next.js (Free)

The website runs on Vercel's free tier. Custom domain. Fast. Mobile-friendly. Not a template that looks like every other wellness site — a real site built to match the brand.

The session schedule, booking flow, and payment all happen on the site. No redirecting to Calendly. No "click here to pay on a different platform." One seamless experience.

Content: Claude (Free Tier)

Session descriptions, email copy, social media posts, workshop outlines — Claude's free tier handles the content creation. Not generic AI content. Content briefed with Amy's voice, her approach, her language.

The AI drafts. Amy edits. The output sounds like her, not like a robot.

What the Automation Actually Does

Here's a real workflow from Lucid Living:

  • Someone visits the site and sees upcoming breathwork sessions
  • They book and pay — Stripe processes payment, Supabase records the booking
  • Instant confirmation email goes out via Resend with session details and what to bring
  • 24 hours before — automatic reminder email
  • After the session — follow-up email with breathing exercises they can do at home
  • If they haven't booked again in 30 days — a gentle nudge with upcoming sessions
None of this requires Amy to do anything. She runs the session. The system handles everything around it.

Before this, every one of those steps was manual. A DM here, a text there, forgetting to follow up with half the attendees. Not because she didn't care — because she's one person running a business while raising kids.

The Numbers

Here's what this looks like financially:

ToolMonthly Cost
Supabase$0
Vercel$0
Resend$0
StripePer-transaction only
Claude$0 (free tier)
Total$0/month
Compare this to Mindbody ($139/month), Vagaro ($60/month), or even a basic Calendly + Mailchimp + Squarespace stack ($50-80/month).

Over a year, that's $600-1,700 saved. For a solo practitioner, that's real money.

"But I Can't Build This Myself"

No. And you shouldn't have to.

Amy didn't build any of this. I built it — first for Lucid Living specifically, then turned the architecture into a template that any wellness practitioner can use.

That's the Wellness OS. It's the same system Amy runs, packaged as a deployable template. Bookings, payments, emails, content — the whole stack. You get the code, the database schema, the email templates, and a setup guide.

The template handles the technical bits. You bring your brand, your sessions, and your people.

Who This Is For

This stack works best for:

  • Solo practitioners running breathwork, yoga, meditation, massage, or other wellness modalities
  • Small studios with 1-3 facilitators and a regular class schedule
  • Workshop facilitators who run periodic events and need registration + payment
  • Wellness coaches who want a professional online presence without the monthly SaaS tax
It's not for large gyms or multi-location studios with complex membership structures. Those businesses need different tools. But for the wellness practitioner who just wants to run sessions and not fight with technology — this is it.

The Bigger Picture

Here's what I think about a lot: wellness practitioners are some of the most important people in our communities. They help people breathe, move, heal, connect. And they're spending their evenings fighting with Mailchimp instead of resting.

The technology to fix this exists. It's free. It just needs someone to wire it together. That's what we did with Lucid Living, and it's what the Wellness OS template does for anyone who wants the same setup.
